Uncovering the Truth: The Myth of Perfect People and Perfect Liars

Updated: Apr 11

Explore the concept of duality and the importance of accepting both your light and dark sides for personal growth, healing, and authentic living.

"The more flawless a person appears outwardly, the more demons they hide inside."– Sigmund Freud

This world operates under the law of duality, which is crucial for the expansion and progress of our being. We recognize light in comparison to darkness, joy against sorrow, freedom against oppression, health against illness… Similarly, we distinguish "good" from "bad."

What’s fascinating here is that what we call “good” wouldn't even exist without its counterpart, "bad"—a balance that forms one complete whole—Yin and Yang. Failure to accept this dual nature of our universe and ourselves leads to problems. Many people refuse to acknowledge their “dark” side and try to appear perfect—only love and light.

The problem with this approach is that since Yin and Yang are parts of one unified system, the hidden, repressed, and unaccepted dark side starts to eat away from the inside out. Another factor at play is that it’s hard for our ego to accept that there is something "bad" within us. We tend to blame others or external circumstances—never ourselves. This is a huge illusion of the mind and ego. Until we allow ourselves to accept our darker side, we cannot grow.

From a young age, we’re taught to be good and obedient, which means we can only express what’s deemed acceptable. Anything else is buried deep, deep down in the repressed part of our being. The point is to acknowledge and embrace both sides of ourselves—the one we are free to express and the one we've suppressed.

This is the expansion and progress I mentioned at the beginning of the text, explaining why the law of duality even exists. Since it's challenging for most people to accept this duality, many present themselves as perfect to others, placing even more pressure on those watching how flawlessly others seem to function, while hiding so much darkness within.

To that, I have one thing to say: perfect people, perfectly lie.

Try to wholeheartedly embrace all aspects of your being. Then, work on transforming those parts that no longer serve you. This way, you avoid the trap of thinking you must be perfect and sweeping everything you don't like under the rug. You’ll become aware of aspects of yourself that you can improve and lead a more fulfilling life because you no longer need to pretend. Ultimately, this process will allow your soul to grow continuously.
